Plug Lock
Replace your normal 3 pin plug with a 3 pin plug that locks into any socket, extension lead or box plug adapter.
The plug lock can also be used without any cable attached, to lock the socket from use.
Plug lock comes with a cable blanking plate that covers the cable inlet, to be used as a socket lock.
You can also use plug lock when attached to any appliance, to stop it from being plugged into a socket.
All you do is lock the plug while its out of the socket, this prevents any un authorised access or faulty equipment being switched on.
How this works:
The 3 pin plug lock can be mechanically locked into its socket via the plugs earth pin so that it cannot be easily removed from the socket.
This is achieved by by rotating the disc on the plug top, when the disc is rotated a plastic rod inside the earth pin of the plug is moved downwards which spreads apart two rubber earth locking pins, thus locking the plug into the socket via friction. If one of the rubber locking pins is obstructed, then the other rubber pin will lock the plug into the socket. There is an indication on the top of the plug that informs you that the plug lock is in the locked position, see pictures below.
The reason we use rubber pins is so that the socket does not get broken when you try and pull out a plug that’s been locked into the socket.
At all times the socket has to maintain its integrity.
Typical applications:
- Can be used for portable appliance equipment in hospitals/security centres where you don’t want the plug to be removed easily.
- Office areas so that the electrical portable appliance must not be disconnected, for example, a network hub, laser printer, or vending machine.
- Appliances that you don’t want to be plugged into a socket or for anyone to use (by locking the plug outside the socket)
- Use for any home products, fridge freezer, games console, TV or computer, basically any plug that you do not want to be disconnected, or even connected.
- Showroom areas or nightclubs where the public could unplug the electrical appliances.
- At home, if you are unfortunate to be burgled they will have to cut the wire and maybe trip out the power before they can take the item.
- Ideally suited for childcare facilities / crèches etc, where inquisitive little fingers may wander.
- Use the plug lock without wiring to an appliance, this stops other people in using the power socket, great for airports, nurseries or public places where people can use your electricity for charging laptops or mobile phones.
